Cambridgeshire Calling: SYBERAC Review Meeting & Hope Farm Visit

In September 2025, the Steering Board members of SYBERAC travelled to Cambridge, United Kingdom, for the first project review meeting and to visit the Hope Farm.

The project team met with our project’s European Commission Project Officer, Francesca Gardenghi, and the reviewers, Christina Emmanouil and Jason Weeks, to present the project’s progress to date. We talked about the current status and how the project may be continued in its second half. In the evening, we had a chance to continue our discussions in a new setting, as we visited the historic centre of Cambridge and were inspired by the scholarly atmosphere of the old university town.

As some core work of SYBERAC is rooted in the field research in its Case Studies, we also visited one of our case study with sites with the group: The nature-friendly farming Hope Farm, run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). Here, Georgie Bray and her colleagues showed us how they are testing the effects of farming techniques on biodiversity, and we visited the sampling areas of case studies 1A and 5. This was a great opportunity to learn about the backgrounds of this case study, especially for the part of the Steering Board whose focus of work is on other parts of the project.
